A dedicated and passionate tutor who understands first-hand the challenges of turning your ideas into compelling scripts. A flexible and student-focused approach that recognises that there’s no single 'correct' way to teach scriptwriting. Able to offer an overview of all aspects of the craft and industry or to focus on a specific genre or format (e.g. writing a feature, short or TV pilot). One-to-one sessions can be tailored to a writer's specific needs, whether it's aspects of screenwriting or feedback on their project (though reading outside of the sessions may need to be arranged). Typical lessons are an hour in length but longer sessions or a series of sessions are also possible.

David was my teacher/tutor at London Film Academy for my MA in Screenwriting. I cannot overstate how competent, helpful, knowledgeable, and encouraging David was. He brought years of Screenwriting experience and broke it down into digestible, practical ways of learning. He taught structure and created brilliant lessons, but also had incredibly insightful notes 1-on-1. He is a fun person, a very intelligent teacher, and a talented writer. If you are looking for a teacher or a tutor or a writer, please pick David. You will be glad you did.
David taught be during my time at the London Film Academy studying MA Screenwriting. Ironically, I can’t find enough words to describe the impact David had on my writing. Coming into the industry with no prior knowledge of how to structure and format a screenplay meant I felt one step behind. But with David’s sound advice, I always came out two steps ahead and graduated with a first-class degree. I can guarantee you that no matter your ability, David will make you a better writer. And then some.
When I joined a screenwriting course at Metfilm School, David was exactly the kind of teacher I was hoping to find: passionate, dynamic, knowledgeable, and so approachable. His classes felt more like conversations with one of my nerdy, cleverer friends at the pub. Also a really sweet guy with fantastic TV show recommendations. It really opened up a whole new world for me.
I was tutored by David at MetFilm School - London in 2022.

David is not only a brilliant scriptwriter but a lovely human being. His work on film and TV speaks for itself. Years of industry experience working in features and television. His attention to detail, structural knowledge and ear for dialogue is excellent, making him a great screenwriter. More than that though David is a great teacher. Supportive and encouraging.
David is an excellent tutor who brings a wealth of experience in writing and teaching. He is supportive and nurturing to his students and enables them to succeed.
He is as erudite as he is inclusive and welcoming. He has all the experience in the industry and the ability to impart it. I learned so much and you will too!
David thought me while I was studying in film school. He made every lesson worth getting up for, even if you were hanging from the night before!
Being able to work through each detail of your story and script and helping you find the answers yourself is something I will always be grateful for.
I listened and kept every bit of advice he ever gave me and still regard him as the best tutor I had in Film School.David was my teacher at London Film Academy for a year.
