I am a writer and comedian with professional experience working with West Wing Writers, a prestigious speechwriting and communications firm. Additionally, I used to run the field trips program at 826DC during my time there as the Programs Assistant. I have a degree in Writing for Film and Television from Emerson College and I also have years of experience working in preschool classrooms.
Having begun my work in teaching with Jumpstart, a supplementary early childhood literacy program, I always focus on improving the foundation of a student's brain by improving reading comprehension skills and helping them focus on their thought process and reasoning above all else. Providing a student with the skills to draw connections and discover the central "why" of any question not only prepares them for their classes now, but ones in the future as well.
I'm happy to provide writing and reading help to students in grades K-12.
Reading and writing are supposed to be fun, contrary to what people think a lot of the time. As a working comedian with a degree in Writing for Film and Television, the skills I gained as a writer in high school have enabled me to work with some of the funniest, smartest people in the country. I even had the opportunity to submit jokes for famous politicians and impressive executives from the worlds of business and philanthropy during my time with West Wing Writers, a prestigious speechwriting and communications company.
Oftentimes, especially with academic papers, it can feel like you're trying to fit an outline or write what your teacher wants to hear; I want to change that. By helping you focus on your own voice, style, and perspective, I can help you separate your writing from the rest of the class.
My teaching experience comes largely through my time with Jumpstart and 826DC. With Jumpstart, an early childhood supplementary literacy program, I learned about early childhood development and focus on improving students' reading comprehension and understanding of the alphabet, along with basic concepts like rhyming. At 826DC, I ran the field trips program as Programs Assistant, where I oversaw field trips wherein classes of students (K-7) joined us to write their own story as a group, with myself or a volunteer leading the way with prompts and visualization exercises.
While I typically charge $50 an hour for writing and reading based homework help, I'm always open to negotiating my rates in order to fit your financial situation.
