About Brian
I've taught high school history for 22 years, and have adjuncted undergrad college courses as well. I have a bachelor's degree in History with a minor in American Studies, and I have a master's degree in Social Studies Education. I was also in a PhD program before leaving to devote more time to personal and family pursuits. I have a passion for teaching truth - sometimes difficult truths - as a way to help us shape our present and future. Too many lies about the past have gotten us to where we are now...

I generally teach from the big picture downward to smaller details, but sometimes start with details as illustrations of the broader ideas. My lessons can adapt to the learner but will always challenge them to think critically about our world. I would say I'm nest suited for high school or undergrad college folks. My main expertise is in US History, but I am a generalist in many ways, and I will always research anything the student needs help with.
