About Olivia
I started teaching in my late teens. This gave me a very different input to student-teacher relationships since I wasn't much older than my students at the time. Many teachers revolve their classroom around the pedagogy that they met in their college/conservatory. This method is not an efficient model of teaching.
Most students come from a much more casual background, with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some students are not looking for a music education to pay the bills. Most students are simply trying to enrich their personal education.
After 10+ years of teaching, I've developed methods to get my students to a place where they can feel the struggle of a true musician, whilst still maintaining their youthful love of music.

I've personally taken classes from an array of teachers, all with their personal approaches and methods, though one thing was always consistent. The lack of improvement I gained from each class was minimal.
I aim to achieve results with students and I do so by "listening" to the student. I "listen" to their frustrations and needs, and bring forth a personalized approach to the problems at hand. Some students may want to work slower, and some students only need a few nudges here and there. Wherever you are on the spectrum, I'm here to assist!
