  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

Oh, absolutely! Picture a young, wide-eyed me sitting in front of a bulky computer with a monochromatic screen. It was like stepping into a time machine back to the 90s! I remember the distinct sound of the dial-up modem connecting to the internet, followed by the joyful screech of a successful connection. And oh boy, the thrill of playing my first computer game! It was a simple pixelated adventure that transported me to a world of virtual excitement. That experience sparked my curiosity and set me on the path to becoming a computer teacher.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most, and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

One technological evolution that has truly left a mark on me is the proliferation of smartphones and mobile technology. These pocket-sized powerhouses have revolutionized the way we communicate, work, and access information. It's astonishing to think that we carry more computing power in our pockets than the entire Apollo space program had. As for the future turning point, I believe it will be the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence in everyday life. We're on the cusp of witnessing AI-driven assistants, smart homes, and autonomous vehicles becoming commonplace. It's an exciting time to be alive and witness these technological leaps firsthand!
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it, and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

My expertise lies in computer programming and software development. I've always been captivated by the power of coding and its ability to bring ideas to life. The computer world is a fascinating place where creativity and logic intertwine, allowing us to solve problems and build amazing things. The importance of this field cannot be overstated. Computers are everywhere, from our smartphones to our cars and even our kitchen appliances. Understanding how they work and being able to harness their potential opens up a world of opportunities. In an increasingly digital age, computer literacy and skills are becoming essential for success in various professions. It's my passion to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in this ever-evolving computer world.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries,' such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you, or do you have other role models?

While Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg have undoubtedly made significant contributions to the world of technology, I find inspiration from a diverse range of individuals. One of my role models is Ada Lovelace, often regarded as the world's first computer programmer. Her visionary insights and analytical thinking paved the way for modern computing. Another role model of mine is Grace Hopper, a pioneering computer scientist who developed one of the first compiler tools and popularized high-level programming languages. These brilliant minds broke barriers and reshaped the landscape of technology. I believe that inspiration can be found in various places, and it's important to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Certainly! One anecdote that comes to mind involves a coding competition I organized for my students. The challenge was to create a game using a limited set of programming concepts and tools. One particular student, let's call them Alex, was struggling to come up with an idea. They felt discouraged and almost gave up. However, with some encouragement and guidance, Alex decided to combine their passion for music with coding. They created a rhythm-based game where players had to match musical beats with visual cues. It was a true masterpiece!

What made this anecdote valuable was witnessing Alex's transformation from a frustrated student to a confident creator. They discovered their own unique way to apply programming skills, which not only boosted their self-esteem but also inspired other students. It taught me the importance of fostering creativity and finding personal connections within the subject matter. Sometimes, the most extraordinary ideas are born from unexpected places, and it's our role as teachers to nurture and encourage that spark of innovation in our students.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

Ah, I can totally understand that feeling of overwhelm! When faced with a seemingly complex subject like IT, it's essential to remember that everyone starts somewhere. So, my advice to an uncomfortable person would be to take it one step at a time. IT may seem intimidating, but with patience, practice, and the right guidance, it becomes much more manageable.

I'd encourage them to embrace a growth mindset, where mistakes and challenges are seen as opportunities for learning. It's okay to not know everything right away. Start with the basics, gradually build up knowledge and skills, and don't hesitate to ask questions or seek help when needed. Remember, even the most seasoned IT professionals were once in the same shoes.
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

While computers and technology are my primary passion, I do have a few other interests outside of the digital realm. One of my favorite pastimes is exploring the great outdoors. I love hiking, camping, and immersing myself in nature. It's a wonderful way to recharge and find inspiration in the beauty of the natural world.

I'm also an avid reader and enjoy diving into all sorts of books, from science fiction and fantasy to philosophy and psychology. Learning about different perspectives and ideas helps broaden my horizons and fuels my creativity.

Additionally, I have a soft spot for board games and puzzles. They provide a fantastic way to unwind, engage with friends and family, and exercise those critical thinking skills in a fun and interactive way.
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

Ah, well, thank you for the kind words! As a Superprof in IT, I believe my combination of knowledge, experience, and passion sets me apart. I have dedicated years to studying and working in the field of computer science, gaining a deep understanding of various IT concepts, programming languages, and software development practices.

But what truly sets me apart is my enthusiasm for teaching and helping others succeed. I strive to make complex topics accessible and enjoyable for my students, breaking them down into bite-sized pieces that are easy to understand and apply. I love seeing the "aha!" moments when students grasp challenging concepts and gain confidence in their abilities.

Furthermore, I stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in the IT industry. This allows me to provide relevant and practical knowledge that prepares my students for the ever-evolving tech landscape.

Ultimately, being a Superprof in IT means not only sharing knowledge but also inspiring and empowering students to explore their own potential and embark on exciting journeys in the world of technology.
