About Zoey
I am a dedicated piano tutor with 9 years of teaching experience, helping students grow from early beginners to advanced performers. I hold a Licentiate of Music in Piano (LMusA equivalent), which has given me both technical depth and artistic insight. My lessons are tailored to support students preparing for ABRSM and Rockschool exams as well as those working towards university-level studies. I strongly believe that every student has a unique musical voice waiting to be discovered. Some may thrive on structured pathways like graded exams, while others may prefer exploring creativity through improvisation, performance, and composition. I guide both approaches with equal enthusiasm and care. My teaching blends technical training with creative expression. I focus on building a strong foundation in technique, sight-reading, and theory, while also encouraging students to feel confident and inspired when they sit at the piano. Performance skills are a core part of my lessons, as I want students to not only play correctly but also communicate music with passion and meaning. Above all, I see my role as a mentor who nurtures potential. Watching students achieve their goals, whether passing exams or simply enjoying their music more, is what inspires me to teach every day.

My teaching approach is centred on making piano learning both structured and enjoyable. I design lessons that cover not only playing but also keyboard technique, ear training, performance skills, and music theory application. Each lesson is carefully paced to suit the student’s level, whether they are starting fresh or building on past experience. I believe a strong foundation in technique is key, so I focus on hand position, finger strength, and accuracy early on. At the same time, I encourage creativity through improvisation and exploring different styles such as classical, jazz, pop, and soul. Students learn how to connect what they read in sheet music with what they hear and feel at the keys. Performance is also an important part of my lessons. I guide students in developing stage confidence, expression, and interpretation, helping them bring out their own musical voice. Theory is taught in a practical way, showing how scales, chords, and harmony directly apply to the pieces they play. I support learners who are highly driven as well as those who simply want to enjoy music at their own pace. My goal is to make every student feel confident, inspired, and motivated. With patience, structure, and encouragement, I help them discover not only how to play but how to truly love the piano.
