About Gabriella

I am a violin tutor with over 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Early Music, specialising in Baroque Violin. My focus is on folk traditions, including Irish, Scottish, American Old-Time, and more. I teach ornamentation, rhythmic bowing patterns, and ear-based learning to help students capture the authentic sound of each style. Lessons incorporate folk jam tracks, drone tuners, and repertoire-based instruction to make learning immersive and practical. I aim to balance technical skill with musical expression, guiding students to play with confidence and musicality. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level, interests, and learning goals. I encourage active listening, improvisation, and creative exploration within folk traditions. Whether you are a beginner or advancing your skills, I provide structured guidance alongside playful, engaging exercises. My goal is to help students connect deeply with the music and the culture behind it. Join me, and explore the rich sounds and traditions of the violin while developing skill, ear, and expression. About the lesson

My teaching approach emphasises goal-setting, structured practice, and performance readiness. Each lesson combines daily warm-ups, technical études, and exercises in expressive phrasing to build strong fundamentals and musicality. I help students develop stage presence and confidence for recitals, auditions, and ensemble performances. Lessons are carefully planned to provide clear steps while including creative challenges that inspire growth. I tailor exercises to suit each learner’s strengths, whether they thrive with structure, encouragement, or opportunities for expressive outlets. Students learn to manage practice effectively, balancing technique, repertoire, and interpretation. I guide them through phrasing, dynamics, and musical storytelling to create compelling performances. Ensemble and collaborative skills are emphasised, helping students adapt to group playing with poise. My goal is to make learning both structured and enjoyable, ensuring steady progress and artistic development. With guidance, motivation, and practical strategies, students leave lessons confident, prepared, and excited to share their music.
