As an educator, I view myself as a practitioner of the principle Form Follows Function; all forms of teaching and learning must be informed by the function of that which they seek to accomplish. It is my personal belief that the function of teaching is to provide students with transparent pedagogy that enables them to not only acquire content in the classroom, but the cognitive concepts behind the content which enable their success thereafter as well. Given this, my approach to education is informed by this philosophy and driven by the fulfillment of three fundamental goals: critical connection between classroom content and meaning, cognitive development of the student, and contextualized learning to prepare college and career ready students.
