About Ashton

Teaching voice is more than correcting pitch or perfecting phrasing—it's about helping students discover and celebrate who they are through music. Over the last 8 years, I've supported vocalists across a wide range of experience levels in building strong, emotionally expressive, and technically reliable voices.

Whether you're a student stepping into your first solo, preparing for conservatory auditions, or singing simply for the love of it, I create custom lesson plans that meet you where you are and help you grow with clarity and purpose. Each session blends classical and contemporary technique to give students the flexibility to sing across genres. We work on breath management, tone placement, diction, phrasing, and vocal agility, then apply those skills to pieces that matter to you. My students sing everything from musical theater and gospel to indie pop and singer-songwriter ballads.

Lessons include regular opportunities for exploration—trying different vocal styles, interpreting lyrics from multiple emotional perspectives, and learning to connect body language with musical expression. I also incorporate technology like pitch visualizers, session recordings, and targeted vocal warm-ups to reinforce independent practice and accelerate progress. Vocal health is a key part of every lesson. I teach how to recognize fatigue, protect your instrument during high-demand periods, and develop sustainable habits for long-term vocal strength.

For students preparing for performances, I offer coaching on audition technique, stage confidence, and how to shift nerves into energy. Above all, my studio is a supportive, judgment-free space. You'll never be asked to sound like someone else—only to become more of yourself. I believe every voice is worthy, and every singer has a story worth telling. Let's find your sound—and your confidence—together.

Singing is an intricate art form that seamlessly blends the physical mechanics of vocal production, emotional storytelling, and cultural diversity to craft compelling musical narratives. My teaching philosophy centers on cultivating Balance, Creativity, Respect, and Development. Balance refers to the integration of breath support, vocal cord function, and posture alignment to ensure a sustainable and healthy voice capable of versatility across styles.

I emphasize teaching students to listen deeply to their own bodies and voices to maintain this equilibrium. Creativity drives artistic innovation; I invite students to explore phrasing, dynamic contrasts, and emotional nuances through improvisation, lyric analysis, and character embodiment exercises that foster authentic self-expression.

Respect underpins my pedagogical approach, as I actively integrate an array of musical genres and cultural traditions, encouraging students to appreciate and engage with the richness of global music. This inclusivity broadens their stylistic range and deepens their cultural awareness. Development is encouraged through clear goal-setting, personalized practice plans, and thoughtful, constructive feedback designed to inspire perseverance and continuous artistic growth. I strive to create a warm, nurturing environment that balances technical rigor with imaginative freedom, empowering singers to discover and confidently express their unique voices in every performance.
