Enthusiastic and award-winning young writer with background in creative and argumentative writing

Methodology

My strategy is to get to the heart of what someone means to say before focusing on how to say it. This means discussing the topic at hand for a more in-depth understanding of their argument and what's important to them about the paper's context. This creates an air of excitement and attachment to the subject so that writing can become an engaging communicative process. Writing can be fun! Depending on my students' learning style, I will strategize how a paper/cover letter/thesis might best deliver their message in a thoughtful, well-supported manner. I have many strategies for creating outlines, too. I sometimes deviate to more creative approaches such as theoretical collage, color-coded notebooks, and letter-writing as a way to spark ideas.

Background

I'm a recent graduate from Lewis & Clark College where I studied sociology, anthropology, and philosophy with honors. I have experience writing for public audiences and I excel at constructing academic papers and/or thesis projects. I have written a TEDx talk, performed and published my own poetry, and written blog articles for companies in Portland. I love to help people of all ages find novel ways of approaching and organizing their sentence structure, while striving for clarity of expression. I have tricks for how to organize papers and I'd really love to share them. I'd be delighted to work with anyone of any age and background.

My old roommate and dear friend has offered me advice on more than just writing. I can tell you that her writing advice saved me unnecessary stress and worry throughout our college days. Together we were able to organize my thoughts and ideas in a coherent and potent outline! I wholeheartedly trust her experience as an accomplished writer and speaker. Not only this, but our conversations over the years have opened my mind in unique ways. Amaris has taught me new approaches to receiving new ideas!
