About Parita
With over 13 years of experience in tutoring, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every lesson. I graduated from Purdue University, where I developed a strong academic foundation and honed my problem-solving skills. In addition to my tutoring career, I work as a security consultant, which has taught me the importance of attention to detail, strategic thinking, and the ability to explain complex concepts in clear and accessible terms. My diverse professional background, combined with my passion for teaching, allows me to connect with students across various subjects—whether it's math, English, or SAT prep. My approach is not just about improving grades; it's about fostering confidence and helping students develop a deeper understanding of the material. I take pride in creating personalized lessons that cater to each student's unique needs, ensuring that they not only succeed academically but also grow as independent learners. With a commitment to excellence, I strive to make every session productive, engaging, and motivating, ultimately preparing students for future success both in and outside of the classroom.

Introduction to Teaching Method & Techniques
As a tutor, I employ a combination of personalized, interactive, and concept-focused teaching methods to ensure that each student not only understands the subject but also develops critical thinking skills that will serve them well in future learning. Here are the key aspects of my approach:
Individualized Instruction: Each student has unique learning preferences, so I tailor my lessons to match their pace and level of understanding. Whether through visual aids, hands-on activities, or direct instruction, I adapt to their needs.
Active Engagement: I encourage participation through problem-solving exercises, interactive discussions, and real-world examples. I believe students retain knowledge better when they are actively engaged in the lesson.
Mastery-Based Learning: Instead of focusing solely on grades or scores, I focus on mastery of concepts. Students are given the opportunity to revisit challenging topics until they fully understand the material.
Scaffolded Learning: For complex topics, I break down lessons into manageable chunks and build upon previously learned concepts, ensuring that each new lesson is connected to prior knowledge.
Positive Reinforcement: I foster an environment where mistakes are seen as a part of the learning process. Positive reinforcement and constructive feedback help build a student’s confidence and motivation.
2. Typical Lesson Plan Structure
Each lesson is designed to be flexible and responsive to the student's needs, but generally follows this structure:
Warm-up/Review (5-10 minutes): A brief recap of the previous lesson or a quick review of key concepts to refresh memory and ensure retention. This could include a few sample problems or questions.
Introduction to New Content (15-20 minutes): Introduce new topics or skills using visual aids, demonstrations, or guided examples. For math, this might involve step-by-step problem solving; for English, this could include reading comprehension exercises, grammar drills, or writing activities.
Guided Practice (15-20 minutes): Students will attempt problems or exercises with my guidance, ensuring they understand each step. I provide immediate feedback to correct mistakes and reinforce concepts.
Independent Practice (10-15 minutes): Students apply what they’ve learned through independent work, whether it’s a series of math problems or a written essay. I monitor and offer help when needed.
Wrap-up & Recap (5-10 minutes): The lesson ends with a brief review of the key points covered, as well as assigning relevant homework or practice problems to solidify understanding. I also address any questions students may have.
3. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Adaptability Across Subjects & Levels: I am skilled in teaching a range of subjects from elementary math and English to advanced high school material and SAT prep. My ability to adapt lessons to each student's learning level—whether they are struggling with basic concepts or preparing for college entrance exams—sets me apart as a versatile tutor.
Focus on Building Confidence: Beyond teaching the material, I focus on building each student’s academic confidence. I encourage students to believe in their abilities and help them develop resilience when facing challenges.
Holistic Approach to Learning: I believe in developing well-rounded students who are not only good at taking tests but also understand the underlying concepts. For SAT prep, I emphasize test-taking strategies, time management, and stress reduction techniques, in addition to core content.
Real-World Application: I connect the subjects to real-world applications, helping students see the relevance of what they are learning. For instance, I relate mathematical concepts to everyday situations, or I help students understand how effective writing can be used in various careers.
4. Target Audience & Lesson Customization
Who Are the Lessons For?
Elementary School (Grades K-5): Basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), foundational English skills (reading comprehension, phonics, vocabulary), and introduction to problem-solving techniques.
Middle School (Grades 6-8): Pre-algebra, introductory geometry, basic writing skills (essays, grammar), literature analysis, and preparation for high school-level material.
High School (Grades 9-12): Advanced math (algebra, calculus, trigonometry), English (literary analysis, essay writing, SAT/ACT prep), and focused SAT preparation (including strategies, practice questions, and targeted lessons on the sections of the test).
SAT Prep: Students preparing for the SAT will receive a focused, structured study plan, including lessons on test-taking strategies, practice questions, and comprehensive reviews of all test sections (Math, Reading, Writing, and Essay).
Specificities:
Math: Whether it’s early arithmetic or advanced calculus, lessons are structured to meet the student at their current level and gradually advance them to higher levels of understanding.
English: Emphasis on reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing skills (including essays, summaries, and creative writing), and SAT-specific writing sections.
SAT Prep: Full prep for all aspects of the SAT, with a focus on timing, test-taking strategies, and maximizing each student’s score. This includes intensive practice on real SAT tests, thorough explanations of correct and incorrect answers, and development of specific strategies for each section.
