About Simoni

I am a dedicated tutor that can help students of all ages, grades, and levels. I am a high school student in the top decile of my graduating class, and a Co-Editor in Chief of my school's literary magazine The Roundtable. I am familiar with the AP English Language & Composition curriculum, and have achieved an A+ in the class, and a 5 on the AP Exam. I am also familiar with Honors English 1, and Honors English 2, and will be enrolled in AP English Literature & Composition this year. I can help with refining writing skills, essay development, rhetorical analysis, synthesis, and argument. In addition to being an expert in high school English, I found my start tutoring younger students. I have been volunteering as a Reading Buddy with my local library for the past 5 years, and have donated over 120 hours of my time to developing the reading skills of beginning readers, in phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension. I am also certified by the State of New Jersey as bi-literate in Spanish (NJ State Seal of Biliteracy) and can help those with English as a second language.

About the lesson

I am a motivated, dedicated teacher that specializes in one on one instruction. My lessons are individualized and are shaped to the needs of each of my students. Lesson plans are tailored to the academic needs of each student, as well as their learning style, age, level of proficiency, and intellectual curiosity. I do not believe that one size fits all in terms of educational instruction, emphasizing the need for individualized tutoring.

At least two days before every session, I will request the parent or student to tell me what they wish to work on. Then, a day before the session, I will create a lesson plan for the upcoming session and send it to the parent/student for approval and edits. I want to ensure that every session is productive, meaningful, and efficient. A typical lesson plan will include an outline of the instructional materials used, activities, and homework for the upcoming session.

My lessons are targeted at those at the high school level and below, meaning grades K-12. I am willing to work at flexible rates, depending on affordability, the length of sessions, frequency, and scheduling.

Details

Cancellation Policy: A cancellation request must be communicated one day before the session. If the session is canceled on the day itself, I will request payment in full unless cancellation occurs due to illness, injury, an emergency, or unforeseen circumstances.

If this issue occurs five times, I retain the ability to release the student.
