I’m a Certified Reading and Writing Tutor Helping K–5 Students Build Lifelong Literacy Skills With over 20 years of experience as a certified educator and a specialist in dyslexia intervention, I bring a deep understanding of how children learn to read, write, and how to help them thrive. As a certified educator with over 20 years of experience—and specialized certification in dyslexia intervention—I use science-based literacy instruction to help Kindergarten through 5th-grade students build strong reading and writing skills. My approach is rooted in structured literacy, ensuring that each lesson is grounded in evidence-based strategies proven to increase comprehension, fluency, and written expression.

Teaching Method & Techniques
Each student begins with a pre-assessment to determine their current skill level. This helps identify strengths, gaps, and target goals for progress. I tailor every session to meet individual needs using:

Explicit, systematic instruction in phonics, decoding, and comprehension

Multisensory techniques to engage different learning styles

Writing scaffolds that support organization, grammar, and sentence structure

Typical Lesson Structure
I follow the Gradual Release of Responsibility model:

I Do: I explicitly model the skill or strategy, narrating my thinking.

We Do: We practice the skill together with guided support.

You Do: The student independently applies the skill, demonstrating mastery.
