About Daniel
I am a career long educator and tutor whose roots are in the Arts and Humanities. I did my graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania (MPhil in English, Comparative Literature and Theatre, and MSEd in Secondary English Education.)
I'm passionate about student growth and ownership, and I hang my hat on my dedication to the Teacher as Learner philosophy. I'm who I am today because of what my students have taught me throughout my twelve years as an educator and teaching artist. Part of my teaching philosophy is rooted in students taking ownership of their learning to master concepts and in turn reflecting on their victories. We are lifelong learners, and as our capacity to surprise ourselves is limitless, it's so rewarding for all invested in the learning process to hear students upon mastering a skill say, "Wow, I really did that. I didn't think I could, but I did. Im really not crazy!" I'm also in the film industry, where I work on both sides of the camera; I have taught filmmaking, and currently enjoy freelancing as a film editor and VFX artist.
