I use the Suzuki method and philosophy. In teaching kids, the present of one parent is very important to the student improvement. Usually the lesson is 30-40 minutes. With teenager and adults, I work only with the student. Usually 1 hour lesson. I use books to learn and improve musical reading and videos/audios to improve listening. I also work with a musical taste that suits the student.
I’m a violinist. I pursue my Master degree at UMass and I have been teaching for 4 years. I am a Teacher Assistant at Music Department at UMass. I also have large experience with orchestra playing. I was a Suzuki and I use this method to teach.
My son started learning how to play the violin with her and is currently still taking lessons with her. She knows how to communicate with him and take care of his feelings when he gets frustrated or when he has questions. She is always willing to help him after classes via phone calls and emails. Rebeca is an experienced teacher who is full of passion! She doesn't just follow what's written in books or only teach him classical music like how some other teachers do, she encourages my son to enjoy learning and playing all kinds of music. Whenever my son finds a song he really likes, she is always there to help him make it possible to play on the violin, no matter how hard the song is.
Rebeca is a thoroughly professional young teacher. She has worked with the nonmajor violin students at the University of Massachusetts, for the 2019-2020 academic year, and I have had the pleasure of being her supervising professor. Her students were uniformly thrilled with her instruction and made great progress during the course of the year. She herself is an exceptionally strong player and is excellent with children.
