About Christopher
Hello! I am an experienced and dedicated English teacher with over 30 years of experience in guiding students towards academic excellence and personal growth. My journey in education has been driven by a passion for literature, composition, and the transformative power of learning. With a Master’s degree in 20th Century American Literature from Marshall University and a Bachelor’s degree in English from Dickinson College, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the classroom.
In my teaching career, I have developed and implemented innovative curricula for a variety of courses, including English Composition, Creative Writing, and Drama as Literature. I am committed to fostering a love for reading, writing, and critical thinking in my students. My teaching philosophy centers on creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential.
Beyond the classroom, I am an avid outdoors enthusiast. I find great joy and inspiration in backpacking, canoeing, skiing, and camping. These activities not only keep me connected to nature but also invigorate my teaching with fresh perspectives and experiences.
Music is another significant part of my life. As a multi-instrumentalist, I play the guitar, bass, mandolin, and banjo. My love for music extends to my role as a DJ at our local community radio station, where I share diverse musical genres and engage with the community.
I am also a passionate reader and writer, continuously exploring new ideas and perspectives. My inquisitive nature drives me to constantly learn and grow, which I believe is essential for any educator. I strive to inspire the same curiosity and love for learning in my students.
In everything I do, I am dedicated to inspiring confidence and fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment. I am committed to helping students discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve their academic and personal goals. I look forward to embarking on this educational journey with you and making our time together both meaningful and enriching.
