About Ben
My commitment to inclusive pedagogy stems from two years of experience tutoring incarcerated students through the Petey Greene Program. Petey Greene aims to offer justice-involved individuals access to high-quality academic programs, and its tutor selection process is very competitive. I received extensive training in how to facilitate a mutually respectful classroom atmosphere where every student is supported to achieve their highest potential, and my teaching experience there has equipped me to create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment for all students.

I personalize my lessons to each individual in order to cultivate a learning environment and strategy conducive to success. I start each session by asking my students to tell me about how they learn, what they want to learn, and to what end they want to learn it. Then we design a lesson plan together, building in frequent opportunities for reflection and revision.
