About Catherine

Hi, I'm Catherine! I've been teaching for 3 years. I'm very passionate and dedicated to my work, and wouldn't change it for the world. Outside my teaching hours, I give guided tours and animate activities in a museum and organize cultural events such as poetry workshops or art challenges. I think languages are beautiful in their quirkiness and the peculiarities of their rules, their history and their ever-changing nature. I have pursued my studies with a focus on pedagogy and language teaching, and will continue to do so. I've been lucky enough to spend the last two years at an excellent college with courses of unimaginable quality. I use this valuable experience in the creation of my courses.

This class offers lessons designed to help you truly acquire the language so you can use it — not just understand its grammar. Start on a learning journey that gives you strong foundations and helps you master the language. The lessons are organized around unique learning experiences, stories, interactive activities, cultural content, virtual field trips and so on. You will be taken step by step through discovering and adopting the language. Creative projects and cultural events, as well as a language journal, will help you connect to your new language and make it truly your own.

To support your learning, I offer strategies to learn and understand the language better, as well as grammar lessons to deepen your understanding of your new skills.

In this class, we focus on the real, living language, not on the textbook French that no one uses.

Come learn a language with worthy content about history, arts, science, and literature. Content that is always adapted to your level and needs, but never empty content.

Learn to adapt your language to different situations with elegance.

I will help you establish a study plan and provide appropriate resources and help with your requests or specific needs you may have.

Each lesson and progress plan is adapted to you and your needs, we take advantage of your strengths and work on your weaknesses.

Recommended to people in Canada, as I can tell you about French history in the country and teach the canadian variant of French, therefore making you better equipped to use the language in the country you’re actually in!

️️️Cultural events such as quiz tournaments, storytelling events, a poetry festival and more are offered throughout the year.

*Budget option: If you need individualized help, but you're on a tight budget, you can take the mixed-format course with me, so you can work just as much on your French without emptying your bank account. You'll benefit from the expertise and advice of a private tutor, at a reduced price. This is also ideal for those who have heavy schedule restrictions and need the added flexibility of self-paced learning.
→ Simply set up a study plan with me, for which the video call lessons are spread more widely (for example, one per month) and I'll help you plan your study between lessons. This includes:
A study plan customized to your needs and goals.
An ongoing analysis of your needs and goals to adapt your lessons
All resources, including material of my own creation, adapted in a self-paced formula
Material created specifically for you as needed, including with audio or video
Projects and exercises
All the tips and tools to support you in practical activities
An invitation to take part in cultural events at a reduced price, or even for free, depending on the event.
A tutor available by messaging to correct your homework, answer your questions and accompany you at all times.

Video call lessons can be used for activities that require more interaction.
→For this formula, a minimum of 50 minutes of lesson per month must be attended, be it in one or more sessions. If this does not suit you, please message me. I'll be happy to discuss a solution that works for you!

If you would like to book lessons for a small group (2-5 people is ideal), please contact me for custom plans and pricing. The hourly rate shown on this page is for one-on-one lessons and takes in consideration the planning and creation of tools and custom lessons for the students. A group requires a different style of lessons and each student still requires their own tutoring, so this pricing does not apply. It is definitely a good value per student to have a group, but a custom price needs to be discussed according to your group and each individual's needs. I would be happy to come to a suitable solution with you!

This first lesson offered with Catherine will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details

When you pay for your lesson time, the following services are automatically included and provided according to your needs :
- Planning of the lesson and learning activities. Each lesson is adapted to each student.
- Homework, practise projects, study plans and other practise material selected or designed for you.
- Correction and feedbacks on homework or projects.
- Availability for questions between lessons.
- Creation of custom content for your needs, if needed.
- Notes, copies of the board and complementary material on learned content.
- A library of material to help you practise, explore topics you are interested in and grow.
- Invitation to virtual cultural events.

* To receive those services, you must take at least one hour of paid class time during the month. The first free lesson does not count towards this goal.
**If you are taking the class as a small group (2-5 students), all students still receive those personalized services; therefore, a different rate per hour must be discussed.
