About Olivia

Hi, I’m Olivia — a vocal coach, pianist, and full-time musician with a passion for helping people unlock their true musical potential.

I hold a First-Class BA (Hons) in Popular Music from Leeds Conservatoire, where I specialised in musical technique, band performance, improvisation, live music management, and musicology. I also hold Grade 8 Distinction in Popular Music, Grade 7 Distinction in Musical Theatre (London College of Music), and ABRSM Grade 5 in Music Theory.

I’ve performed in a wide range of professional settings—from Her Majesty’s Theatre and university gala concerts, to wedding ceremonies and starring as ‘Maria’ in The Sound of Music. Alongside performing, I currently teach at Bishop Thomas Grant School and St. Mark’s Catholic School, run a school choir, and work with Brent Music Service supporting young vocalists across London.

But what really prompted me to teach was watching people grow. Seeing students push themselves beyond what they thought was possible—whether that’s nailing a performance or simply singing with confidence—brings me joy. It’s not just about exams or technique (though we’ll cover those, too). It’s about helping you take control of your voice and express yourself freely—whether you're training professionally or just singing for fun.

Music should feel empowering, exciting, and completely your own. I’m here to help you find that spark.

Tailored Lessons, Just for You
No two students are the same—so no two lessons should be either. My teaching is entirely centred around you—your voice, your goals, your pace, and your musical tastes. Whether you're a complete beginner, a young performer working through grades, or an experienced singer looking to elevate your technical skill, I will meet you exactly where you are and build from there.

With over 12 years of professional musical training and a First-Class Honours degree in Popular Music from Leeds Conservatoire, I bring a wide breadth of experience to every lesson. My aim is to help you grow not just as a vocalist, but as a well-rounded, expressive musician—confident, creative, and in control of your craft.

What to Expect
A typical lesson is fun, structured, and highly interactive. We start with warm-ups tailored to your needs—these may include breathwork, diaphragm engagement, call-and-response pitch work, or exercises to build vocal agility and tone. I’ll guide you through vocal techniques using creative, easy-to-understand metaphors like:

- “The vocal vehicle” – mastering vocal control like driving a powerful car
- Emotion mapping – learning to sing with intention and emotional truth
- Vocal modes – whisper, cry, belt, whimper—exploring your voice’s full expressive range

We’ll break down songs you love into manageable sections, working on:
- Pitch accuracy
- Rhythm and timing
- Tone and control
- Vocal dynamics
- Performance confidence
- Aural skills and listening

Students are encouraged to take the lead in lessons, choosing repertoire that excites them—this keeps motivation high and progress steady.

Working with Grades
Having achieved Distinctions in both Popular Music (Grade 8) and Musical Theatre (Grade 7) with the London College of Music, I use my own experience with the LCM syllabus to make grade preparation fun, empowering, and far less daunting. I design dynamic lesson plans that balance syllabus requirements with creative expression—so even when we’re working on an exam piece, students stay engaged and inspired.

For students aged 6+ working through Grades 1–3, we take things step by step, focusing on confidence building, healthy technique, and musical enjoyment from day one. I know how to keep lessons light, expressive, and enjoyable—especially for younger learners. As the eldest of six siblings, working with children is second nature to me!

️ For Experienced Singers
For more advanced singers, I offer sessions that dive deeper into technique and artistry. This may include:

- Expanding range and breath control
- Resonance and projection
- Vowel shaping and articulation
- Performance coaching for live or recorded settings
- Support with songwriting, phrasing, and interpretation
- Coaching for current projects or auditions

Lessons are collaborative—you're in the driver’s seat, and I’m here to elevate your work.

️ For Non-Singers
Not everyone I work with is a singer! I also coach professionals—such as authors, presenters, and public speakers—who want to improve their vocal presence, clarity, and emotional connection when speaking aloud. Whether you're preparing to record a podcast or deliver a keynote speech, I’ll help you develop vocal confidence that supports your message.

Between Lessons
After each session, I provide a personalised breakdown of what we’ve covered and what to practise at home. I believe in building healthy vocal habits, and consistent, mindful practice between lessons will help fast-track your progress.

Whatever your musical journey looks like—whether you're preparing for exams, learning just for fun, or developing as a performer—I’m here to support you every step of the way with positivity, creativity, and care.

Let’s make music that feels like you.
