About Ezra
I am a pre-service English teacher with a bachelor's degree in creative and professional writing. I love writing, and in 2019 one of my short stories was published in an anthology. I believe that the two most important skills a person can have are: the ability to effectively communicate with others and the ability to effectively interpret what others mean. These two skills are necessary to succeed in every facet of life, and they are the foundation of English education.

I take the time to connect with the students to personalize the lessons to fit their interests and academic goals. I have classroom experience from the Teach Today program, which I apply to my tutoring sessions to create well-structured, student-led lessons.
The first lesson is used to get to know the student, their interests, learning style, and academic goals. The student should bring any information they have on upcoming curriculum focuses and assignments, along with past work samples (if possible), so we can create a learning plan for going forward. This session is free.
After the initial session, each session is structured as follows, with alternations made depending on session length and student needs:
1. Catch up/check-in. This entails a 5-10 minute discussion regarding school and any concerns the student has which may be impacting their learning.
2. Warm up. This will depend on the curriculum topic and any established areas needing improvement (for example: spelling).
3. Review of homework and upcoming assignments.
4. Activity relating to upcoming assignments. This can include brainstorming topics, assisting with assignment structuring, assisting with research, and providing feedback on drafts.
5. Decide on a focus area for future lessons.
