  • What age did you start dancing at? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

In Colombia, one starts to dance at a very young age. Music is everywhere, at home, on the streets, at family parties and national celebrations, and so, since I was a child, I felt the music resonating in my body and I could dance for hours. When I was in high school, I started to take part in dancing and acting workshops, and that is when I fell in love with movement, the way of expressing myself. Therefore, I've been dancing professionally for 18 years, but for sure I had been already moving way before then.
  • What are your favorite styles of dance ; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a dance that you'd still like to discover?

Latin American rhythms (salsa, bachata, merengue, traditional Colombian dances like cumbia, bullerengue, champeta) and contemporary dance. As a hobby I practice voguing and street dance, and I have a special affection for Spain so I would love to learn flamenco.
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your profession as a dancer?

To be able to touch and be touched through the movement is a great opportunity to be part of the social transformation. To see how the people express themselves through dance being amazed by what they can achieve with their bodies, learning a technique, being disciplined and going beyond their own limits and those imposed by our society. That makes me love my profession, that's why I get up motivated every morning to create and share my passion with others. To encourage them to love themselves and their movement, and to go as far as they can. Because that's the only way. To work hard, be extremely disciplined, and go farther than you can, because there will always be a higher step to reach.
  • Do you have a dance achievement that you're particularly proud of?

The first time I directed a dance performance was extremely challenging. To be aware of everything, choreographies, dancers' emotions, scenography, music, costumes, well, everything that you learn from the artists involved in your project, what you learn about you as an artist and person, makes you feel so grateful and absolutely strong. And when the curtain rises, and you see those amazing and strong artists at the stage giving it all, soul, discipline, love, and working together with the others to make the magic happens, is to me the most incredible feeling and one of my career experiences that makes me most proud of.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better dancer?

Every challenge in my life as an artist or as a person, makes me better and stronger. It allows me to grow and believe that the only way to achieve all your dreams and profesional goals is to work hard, be persistent, be curios and creative, and understand that the mistakes are there to teach you something. The competition between us is just an opportunity to empower ourselves to not put limits on our way, and all the challenges that I have had during my career made me understand that I'm unique and there is no reason to compare to others. Everyone has their own path, everyone is a universe.
  • If you had to go for a jog with a famous dancer, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

    Michael Jackson
How do you create your choreographies? What is your inspiration?

Maykel Fonts ( one of the best salsa dancers in the world)

How much time do you dedicate to your dance ?

What are your thoughts about dance and movement?

Where does your strength come from ?

Pina Bauch ( Icon of contemporary dance)

Why dance is taste of freedom?

    What dance means for you?
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

As a super prof teacher, I always tend to see the positive side of every situation, hearing and identifying what the students' interest is, what they want to learn, what their goals are.

Then, I look for the best way to maintain them motivated, giving them challenging material, recognising their achievements and setting higher goals.

And with this dynamic, rising goals and going beyond them, we can go as far as the students want. But the most important thing is to make them love their own movement and their own way to express themselves. In that way, we can enjoy the pleasure of dance and share all what we are with freedom and confidence.

When you reach the professional stage and make this profession your way of living, it is quite different. Sometimes you don't feel comfortable with your process, sometimes your body and mind are tired, sometimes you have a very big challenges that seem difficult to overcome. That is the moment when the motivation comes, from the confrontation with those difficulties. You start to dedicate more time to those dance pieces that you need to get, being more conscious and knowledgeable about your own body.
  • What makes you a Superprof in dance?

I think it's my passion for dance, the strong desire to share it with people, and big satisfaction that I feel seeing their achievements.
