About Amelia
It sounds cliché, but I knew for a very long time that I would come to study English, and I have found that in reading it at UCL, one of the top universities in the world, I am enjoying it more than ever. I was always top at my school not just in English but in almost every subject I took, and recently I got the best exam results in my university year group of over one hundred people.
I studied foreign modern languages and religion/philosophy at A-level alongside English lit, so I'm well versed in essay writing, understanding the intricacies of language, and placing texts within their greater socio-historical contexts, skills which I don't doubt have contributed to my academic success.
That said, I like to think that I'm a very approachable and down-to-earth person, and I can guarantee that my lessons won't be humourless or unnecessarily complicated. Although it's not a priority in exams, I believe that having a strong sense of personality and integrity when writing an essay (without sacrificing formality or objectivity) is what helps take an essay from an A to an A*. At least, that's what's worked for me.

New to formal tutoring but have always been passionate about helping those around me achieve academic success through accessible and precise communication. Lessons would be up to two hours and would focus on understanding/analysing the text and applying ideas in the form of a well-structured and captivating essay. I have lots of experience in every area of studying literature, from close-reading a poem to applying it within the wider body of context and scholarship. My approach to studying has always been simplistic, almost mathematical. Still, I would never discourage a student from exploring their own creativity and using the materials available to them to create bridges upon which they build original ideas.
I target my tutoring towards A-level students looking to achieve As and A*s, though I have no issue with accommodating to other ages or levels.
