About Michele

I am a singing teacher, singer, author and instrumentalist. I taught singing and ensemble music at the Chiavi d'Ascolto School of Music (Bologna) from 2013 to 2019. I held introductory vocal groups at the Santa Rita Polyphonic Choir (Bologna, directed by M ° Cristian Gentilini) and Vocal Technique for Dancers at Selene Centro Studi (Bologna, directed by Roberta Zerbini). I have developed personal record projects such as "Chamber Music: John Dowland and James Joyce"; in progress, "E La Nave Va" (CD, 2019). I sing as a tenor in the Eurydice Choir, directed by Pier Paolo Scattolin with whom I recorded "Trenodia" (CD Tactus, 2018), Un altro orfeo; (DVD 2019). I was enrolled in the SIAE from 2008 to 2019 as composer and author and I participated in several competitions for songwriting.
I studied: -Canto Gregoriano with M ° Federica di Leonardo (Bologna, 2016); -Vocal Technique with M ° Miguel Angel Curti Bologna (Bologna 2003-2011); -Classical Guitar, Music Theory, Solfeggio, Harmony with Maestro Paolo Ingrosso (Bologna, 2006 - 2015). - Modern singing with Monica Sersale (Civic Schools, Milan 1995-1998); I have dedicated myself to various practices to gain awareness of the relationship between body and expression such as Contemporary Dance, Yoga, Theater and Bioenergetics. I come from an atypical professional path for a musician: graduated in Political Economy at the Univ. Bocconi in 2000 with honors, he obtained a PhD in Law and Economics at the Univ. of Bologna in 2005. Before dedicating myself to teaching singing, I worked, from 2002 to 2012, as a freelancer in the field of business consultancy for non-profit and cooperative organizations.

The course of study that I propose must be agreed and adapted to the interests and conditions of each student. What characterizes my method of work is the search for integration between the different aspects that make the construction of the vocal and more widely musical skills of the singer. In particular, I focus on breathing technique as the basis of vocal technique and on musical learning (concentration and memorization) as the basis of interpretation. The proposal includes support for the preparation of auditions, showcases, entrance exams for conservatory courses (preparatory and first level) in Pop / Rock, Jazz and Classic singing.
As an indication, the following aspects are covered in the lessons:
1) The Body and the Voice: respiratory training, posture, body awareness and stage space
The development of the voice depends first of all on the acquisition and exercise of a correct breathing technique (diaphragmatic breathing , intercostal, dorsal). This ability - and more generally of all the technical and expressive vocal aspects - is directly related to the general physical condition and to specific postural aspects. It is therefore useful to deal with coorporeal awareness and coordination exercises. Finally, it is important that these aspects (breath - posture - body perception) are combined with the management of the space in which one acts: this makes vocal performance more energetic and complete.

2) Vocal Technique: Belcanto applied to the Modern and Lyrical repertoire
The technical exercises aim to allow the pupil to build his own vocal identity. This process takes place through the growth of vocal skills - extension, intonation and dynamic control - in respect of each person's characteristics. The proposed vocal technique combines the principles of the tradition of Italian Belcanto with those which are the criteria of freedom in the search for sound typical of Modern Singing. Part of the vocalizations are taken from some books of opera singing used in conservatories (Vaccaj, Panofka, Concone): these studies allow you to build a technique that is aware of specifically musical aspects.
3) Repertoire
The repertoire is organized by the teacher according to the student's musical interests. Some main study paths can be: Modern Repertoire (Pop, R&B, Musical, Rock etc.); Classic (in particular choral and chamber music); Jazz (vocals and improvisation bases). All repertoires are developed with the instrumental accompaniment of the teacher.

4) Elements of Musical Education
It is possible to integrate vocal work with other aspects of learning, essential for some of the repertoires proposed and for admission to courses in conservatories. (Music theory, solfeggio, harmony and instrumental accompaniment on guitar or piano).

  • Quale musica potresti ascoltare in loop senza stancarti mai?
