  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in teaching started early-back in school-when I used to help classmates understand difficult topics in Math, Science, and English. Over time, this interest grew stronger. While working as a dentist, I realized how much I enjoyed explaining procedures and health topics to patients. That love for explaining naturally evolved into tutoring. I now teach English, Math, Science, Spoken English, and Biology. Private tutoring allows me to connect personally with each student and adapt my methods to help them succeed.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subjects you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach a variety of subjects including English, Math, Science, Spoken English, and Biology. Math has always been my favorite-I love teaching concepts like algebra, problem-solving, and logical reasoning. In Science and Biology, I focus on simplifying core concepts to help students truly understand rather than memorize. I also enjoy teaching English grammar, creative writing, and spoken English for practical communication. While I enjoy all areas of teaching, very theoretical or overly technical content can sometimes feel dry-but I always find ways to make it interactive and student-friendly.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I didn't have just one role model, but many teachers left a lasting impression on me. My 10th-grade Math teacher made the subject truly enjoyable, and she inspired my deep love for Math. I still remember my KG teacher and my 6th-grade Math teacher for their nurturing approach. In college, my Pharmacology and Endodontics professors taught with such clarity and passion that I unknowingly picked up hints of the teacher I aspired to be. All of them, in their own ways, influenced my desire to teach and make a difference.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs to be patient, observant, and adaptable. It's important to understand how each student learns and to adjust your methods accordingly. Clarity in explanation, encouragement during struggles, and a consistent approach to building confidence are key. A tutor should create a space where students feel safe to ask questions and make mistakes, knowing they're on the path to growth.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I once taught a shy adult learner who could barely speak a few words of English. She had a strong desire to improve but was held back by fear. I used role-plays, real-life scenarios, and daily conversations to slowly build her comfort. By the end of our 50-day course, she confidently gave a short speech in English. That moment reminded me why I love teaching-it's not just about the subject; it's about changing someone's life through learning.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subjects?

Each subject has its challenges. In Math and Science, students often come with a fear of failure or a belief that they "just aren't good at it." In English, especially spoken English, learners struggle with confidence and fluency. My challenge is to break down those mental blocks and create a space where learning feels approachable and fun. It's not always instant, but seeing steady progress makes the effort worth it.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Teaching itself is my passion. I genuinely enjoy connecting with learners, understanding their challenges, and watching them grow. I'm especially passionate about building confidence-whether in solving a tricky Math problem or speaking fluently in English. Outside of teaching, I also love music and writing, which sometimes influences the creative ways I engage with my students.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

What makes me a Superprof is my ability to adapt, empathize, and teach with genuine care. I don't just teach subjects-I teach people. I strive to understand each student's unique learning style and tailor my sessions to make learning enjoyable, structured, and empowering. Whether it's guiding a young child in basic Science or supporting an adult in mastering Spoken English, I bring enthusiasm, clarity, and commitment to every lesson.
