About Katie
I've always enjoyed teaching since I was young, and the joy has only grown! I like making people think, perhaps on the occasion, maybe think too hard. I'm quite laid back, so long as we see eye to eye with respect, we're alright. I don't take or tolerate rudeness, as it's quite childish. Now to say I'm strict would be wrong, I just ask you be serious, mostly. I want to teach and want to make sure the student learns.

Methods and techniques of teaching: Never discrediting a student. If a student believes they may be correct, ask them. Challenge them, engage their answers with critical thinking, as we can learn from the student as much as the student learns from the teacher. Perhaps the answer given might be wrong, explain how to get to the correct answer, but also don't belittle them, either, as the way we communicate with not only our mouths, but our body language has a strong effect.
Explain the concept of the topic being taught; Breaking it down into several smaller increments, engaging the students by reading phrases from novels and books; including asking questions in regards to the conversations and topic of chapters of the book.
What sets myself apart from teaching and mentoring, is the one-on-one connection to understand the students basic needs, and target troubling areas in the curriculum.
