About Emma
I have been working as a teacher and tutor since I was a sophomore in college. I worked as an instructor at Fairfax Collegiate Academic Summer Camp for two summers, where our motto was "Have fun & Learn!" I internalized these words during my first years teaching, and they still ring true to my teaching ideology to this day. I believe that learning is a naturally fun experience, as acquiring new knowledge is exciting to our development. Since then, I have also worked as a long-term substitute for a kindergarten class and an art teacher for a charter school. Through these experiences, I had freedom to create my own lesson plans from scratch and integrate the students' unique interests into the activities each week. Finally, I continue to work at Fairfax Collegiate as a manager in the summers. This position entails providing instructors with mentorship and monitoring student behavioral concerns.

I produce my lessons from a creative and holistic perspective, as someone who is currently learning how to apply artistic directives in a practical setting through my art therapy master's degree. I like to incorporate fun strategies such as color coding, mnemonics, charts, and catchphrases to learning to make the experience both memorable and enjoyable.
I also come from a warm, empathetic perspective. I value the student's emotional reaction to the content and make sure that the students feel supported through the most challenging academic situations.
