I can't promise that you'll produce a blockbuster bestseller or a guaranteed A in your writing class. But I can promise to provide the following:
* a safe place where you can share your writing without fear of harsh criticism, a rude reaction, or ridicule;
* feedback that includes comments on what you did right, what works especially well, and what needs improvement;
* specific instruction on the elements of fiction or nonfiction that you want or need to gain a deeper understanding of;
* and confidence that the writing you produce in this program will be yours in every respect--your voice, your style, your passion, and your heart. I'm a writer myself, and I like working with editors who respect the way I need to express myself.

About the lesson

Creative writing is unlike any other course. To be effective, the instruction needs to be customized for each student. Do you want to write fiction, such as short stories, novels, and the like? Are you looking for help with nonfiction, like essays, newspaper or magazine articles, web content, or books? I have written, edited, and taught every one of those forms of writing throughout my decades-long career as a professional writer and editor, and consultant in the publishing industry. I hold an MA and MFA in Creative Writing and Christian Wisdom and a secondary school teaching certificate from the state of New Jersey. I am qualified to teach both high school and college students. My goal is to turn students into the best writers they can be, while preserving their voice, style, and personal perspective, and to help them find the spark that will ignite their creativity.

As an independent editor, I charge $80 per hour for my private clients, which reflects my extensive college education and continuing education in both writing and editing, and my years of experience in the publishing industry. My tutoring fee is discounted 50 percent, and my students get exactly what my clients get for the full amount. I have a heart for teaching, and I will do everything in my power, knowledge, and experience to help you elevate your writing. There are no additional fees associated with this class.
