I will take students through the lesson by reading it out loud with them and ask questions about what they understand about the assignment and whether anything is unclear to them. We will then go over the assignment piece by piece. I will ask them to tell me in their own words to give an unfiltered account. Then have them write it down. We might draw comparisons to pop culture or examples from their personal experiences. We will then go over how to improve the assignment by offering content suggestions like narration, examples, problem solving, storytelling, or other methods. We will then check for spelling, grammatical errors, and other mechanics. I like to use mnemonic devices to make things easier to remember. I also like to look up information or examples if I don't know something to show that learning can be a shared experience. I have immense knowledge and love for the written word and want to share that love by educating and helping others. I want to help improve students' literacy skills and hone an appreciation for literature and reading in its many forms. I also want to help improve students' writing skills so they can express themselves fully and be informed professional citizens.

I worked with Julie on a couple of book reviews, and found her professional, thorough, efficient, and a great communicator. I expect she makes a great teacher.
Ms. Porter is a tremendous book reviewer. Her skills in understanding theme, plot lines, and delving into the psychological aspects of characters are marvelous.
For instance, when Ms. Porter reads a book, she does it with care, almost as though she herself was going to be graded. I truly believe that Ms. Porter treats the books she reads as people and develops a relationship with them that is shown through her words as she recommends that book to others. To teach skills like these is something I wish more of my reviewers had!Julie loves books and loves teaching. She is trustworthy and a good friend to people who want to learn. Give her a shot. She’s good. You will not be disappointed.
Julie is solid and writes great book reviews with thoughtful analysis of the books she reads, supporting authors and contributing to the book community. She is part of our book communities: Blackberry, Black Tide, Black Phoenix, and Black Coffee Book Tours, and we highly recommend her work.
Julie is extremely knowledgeable in the field of English Language Skills. She has years of experience as a book editor, freelance writer and book reviewer. She is very passionate about reading and writing and supporting others to excel in these areas!
