About Rebecca

As I have not long left school, this would be my first proper experience tutoring. However, during my time at school - in my final two years - I got involved in both the Prefect and the Buddies system. This meant that I would regularly give up my time to help students with different things - whether that be homework, guidance about school in general, or tips on exam revision strategies.

When it comes to English studies, I managed to achieve an 'A' at both National 5 and Higher. I have also completed a semester of Literacy Studies at the University of Stirling.

Writing is something I have always been passionate about and throughout my time in school I always loved English as it was the subject where I could put this passion of mine to use. I often write in my spare time and have written both fiction and non-fiction piece over the years.

About the lesson

I am aware of how stressful exam preparation can be and therefore would love to help students prepare for their National 5 and/or Higher English exams whilst still being able to enjoy the subject.

As I am currently in my first year at university, SQA exams are still fresh in my mind and thus I plan to bring forward the techniques that really helped me achieve an 'A' in both levels of the subject. However I am also very aware that the same technique does not always work for everyone. Thus, I will always come up with different ways of revising until the student is able to find the way that best suits them.

I am someone who is very calm and patient. In school, I was lucky enough to have wonderful teachers who would give up their time in the build up to exams to help me out in various ways. This meant a great deal to me and I truly believe it helped me achieve the results I did. Therefore, I would love to be able to assist other students in whatever way I can whilst they prepare for their exams. Even if that means just having a chat with them about what sort of things they can expect from exams, I am more than happy to help! :)
