About Ames

I have over 6 years of experience as a singing tutor and hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance. I enjoy working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after a break. My focus is on helping you sing confidently in community choirs, karaoke nights, or casual social settings. I create a low-pressure, encouraging space where you can learn at your own pace and feel comfortable experimenting with your voice. Breathwork, vocal relaxation, and posture are key parts of my teaching. I also emphasise mindfulness in music and tone development to help you connect deeply with your singing. I teach a variety of genres including Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult styles. Singing, to me, is more than just music—it’s a way to nurture self-care, creativity, and confidence. Whether you’re starting fresh or returning after some time away, I’m here to support your journey. Singing can be a joyful experience at any age, and I’m excited to help you find your voice and enjoy every step of the process. Let’s make singing a fun and fulfilling part of your life!

About the lesson

We explore different vocal qualities like belting, head voice, and mixed voice to expand your range and expression. Together, we work on techniques that improve strength, control, and flexibility. I create a supportive environment where you can experiment and grow confidently. You’ll learn how to use your voice healthily while exploring new sounds and styles. My goal is to help you unlock your full vocal potential and express yourself freely. Through focused practice and clear guidance, you’ll gain the skills to sing with power and emotion. We’ll build your confidence so you can perform comfortably in any setting.
