About Isla
I’m a singing tutor with over 10 years of experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music, majoring in voice. I specialize in helping students prepare for auditions, competitions, and stage performances with confidence and skill. My teaching covers a range of styles, including Classical, Broadway, Pop-Rock, and Music Theater. I focus on developing strong diction, expanding vocal range, and enhancing vocal agility to help singers reach their full potential. Repertoire selection and dramatic interpretation are key parts of my lessons, ensuring each student connects deeply with their music. I’ve worked with school students, drama majors, and adults returning to singing after a break. My supportive and encouraging approach helps students build technique, stage presence, and vocal artistry. I believe that every voice is unique and deserves to shine. For church ensemble players, I focus on clear diction, blending, and breath control to support group harmony and soulful expression. Crossover artists learn to adapt their vocal techniques to suit each style—shaping tone, pitch, and phrasing uniquely for classical purity, pop energy, or jazz improvisation.
I emphasize precise pitch control and dynamic musicality as essential skills across all genres. We use modern tech tools like digital audio workstations (DAWs) for recording and playback, helping students hear their progress in detail. Metronomes build steady rhythm and timing, while pitch training apps sharpen intonation and vocal accuracy.
Lessons combine traditional vocal exercises with practical performance techniques tailored to each student’s goals. I encourage creativity while reinforcing solid technique. Regular progress tracking keeps motivation high and helps set achievable milestones. Whether preparing for choir performances or genre-blending projects, my approach supports growth and adaptability.
