What is the best way to learn boxing at home?

People tend to believe that they need to go to a gym or a boxing ring to learn how to box, but this is not entirely true. You indeed need gear and gadgets to be able to learn.

However, you can set up a nice boxing corner in your own home. You can purchase a punching bag and the necessary gadgets like gloves and clothes.

There is a wide variety of punching bags with different purposes. The most popular one is the standard hanging heavy bag. Or you can get a free-standing punching bag and avoid having to drill your ceiling to hang it.

There's also the angled heavy bags that allows the boxer to train uppercuts more efficiently, but it can be used for all the other hits and kicks. Or you could purchase a grappling dummy or a body opponent bag. These bags allow boxers to have a better idea or a simulation of hitting another person.

Finally, you can get an uppercut bag, wrecking ball heavy bag, water training bag, or a speed bag. All of these are smaller bags that hang from the ceiling and are used for training uppercuts.

You can set these up in your room, garage, or even living room and practice your boxing skills from the comfort of your home.

Can I learn boxing in 6 months?

Six months can sound like a lot of time or not enough, it all depends on how wisely you use your time. Some people learn to box in even less time than six months and for others, it takes over a year.

There are many different factors that affect the learning speed and the outcome. For instance, someone who has never worked out in their life and suddenly wants to learn how to box will take longer to learn compared to an athlete.

If you've never worked out in your life, you can't start boxing right away. You first must work on your cardio, build resistance, and slowly build your muscles.

Another important factor is the frequency of training. If you train once a week for one hour you're going to take longer to learn compared to someone who trains three days per week for 2 hours every day.

So it all boils down to how wisely you spend those six months because even though we all have the same amount of time, learning to use it wisely is the real trick.

How long do boxers train a day?

If we talk about professional boxers the rules of the game change. These athletes spend all of their time and energy becoming experts in the field.

An average boxer will train between 3 to 5 hours per day for 5 day a week. They will focus on technique, building strength, hand-eye coordination, stamina, and nutrition.

Many people believe that boxing is only about punching bags, however, boxers also have to be attentive to what they eat. They need high loads of protein to keep their energy levels up and lots of greens to stay healthy.

There will be boxers who wake up at 4 or 5 am to go to the gym for one hour to do cardio or weights. Then they can have breakfast, go for a swim, shower, and take time to study the sport. Many high-end athletes spend time analyzing videos from their old games to spot mistakes, or watching videos of their upcoming opponents.

Then they usually go to the ring and train for 3 more hours with the help of their personal trainer. They have nutritious meals throughout the day and go to bed early to allow their bodies to get that 8-hour sleep we all need.

Their regimens can seem overwhelming or undoable, however, it is the only way they become professionals at the sport they love practicing.
