And understanding globalization is very important because it’s the process of cultures traveling globally and having an effect on others.

Geography helps people comprehend where globalization might lead to next!

When learning about geography you’ll also come to develop skills for reading and studying maps or research studies that use a lot of analysis or data sets.

The best part yet is developing great navigating skills, so you’ll now know if you’re headed north, south, east, or west no matter where you are!

And last but not least, you’ll perfect your oral and written skills as geographers need to learn how to correctly write research papers to present their work and data findings.

Who Is A Famous Geographer?

There are so many amazing and famous Geographers in our history known for their research about lands, inhabitants, and phenomena of the Earth.

So here are a few geographers that have made an impact in today’s world that might inspire you to do the same:

  1. Alexander Von Humboldt: In the 1780’s he visited what is now known as Cuba, Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, and Mexico. During this voyage, he sailed up the Caisquaire to determine its longitude and latitude and collected geographical and biological data for years. Hence writing what is known today as “Kosmos” was published in five volumes.
  2. Carl Ritter: A German geographer who spent years reviewing geography and published the first two volumes of his magnum opus Erdkunde. A great work that is known today as one of the most extensive works of geography literature written by a single author.
  3. Al Idrisi: A Muslim geographer and cartographer who is famous for his Tabula Rogeriana that he drew for Roger II of Sicily in 1154. His work is viewed as one of the most advanced medieval world maps ever drawn. He always provided an incredibly detailed account of all the geographical features, ethnic groups, and socioeconomic factors he drew.

What Grade Does One Start Getting Geography?

Depending on the education law’s in a specific state, a 7th grader’s social studies lesson includes geography lessons, citizenship, government, civic and economics, and political systems around the world.

Although geography courses aren’t required in middle school or high school, studying Geography is so important and should be a part of the educational system.

Geography can help us understand the planet’s movement, changes, and systems.

Even to better understand today’s world and how the subject is relevant to today's issues such as climate change, water availability, and natural resources.

Learning the subject in middle school gives students a foundation for high school history classes and maybe even some science courses.

But the ideal way to teach Geography would be to start in Kindergarten when kids are being taught how to create maps and understand causes and effects.

One would be surprised at how much information we can actually hold from our adolescence, especially when being practiced every single day.
