Learning another language such as German comes with a lot of benefits such as academic achievement and greater cognitive development. It’s also a great way to learn about other cultures and beliefs outside of those talked about in the United States. And if you’re someone that is looking into growing their career opportunities, then learning a second or third language will help you land a good job. Not only will you get to advance your career, but you’ll also grow more confident to travel the world and explore other positions in other countries. Who knows maybe one day you’ll even get the chance to work for the company of your dreams in Germany or somewhere else in Europe. San Diego alone has about eleven thousand German speakers and its popularity only continues to grow every year. In fact, there’s a community known as “German American Societies of San Diego” with members from all areas of San Diego that come together and create a German atmosphere. They host dinner dances, anniversary balls, new year’s gala’s, choir concerts, and even Carnival Events that are open to the public. As well as their very own take on the famous beer festival which they call the “El Cajon Oktoberfest!

You might be feeling a little overwhelmed by all the German learning websites available on the internet, which is why we’ll share with you some of the best sites for beginners!

It’s definitely possible to learn German for beginners in one week, but it will also require you to dedicate a lot of hours to just studying the language. Language experts say that learning German beginner level or in this case, A1 level takes at least 75 hours to fully grasp. So that means that you’ll be dedicating at least ten hours or more a day to finish your language lessons within that week. A1 is usually a 6-8 week course depending on how intensely you are studying and how many hours you are putting in each day. Some of the lessons might take you longer to complete or while others might be easier for you. Whether you are dealing with basic reading, grammar, or pronunciation, you can perfect it all within a week if you are really determined. However, as a new German language learner, we recommend for you to take your time to fully understand each daily lesson. The last thing you want to do is rush the process and overwhelm yourself without really understanding the lessons. Your goal should be to make progress every day, rather than perfect your skills.

The B1 level is the third level in the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. So it’s a step beyond the A1 & A2 levels, and it means that you are on the intermediate level of your German-speaking journey. If you are doing B1 then it means that you have the necessary fluency to communicate without effort with native speakers. Now if you’re reaching this level then you are doing great in your studies, and most Universities in Germany ask for at least a B1 level. Although you’ll be able to use this level to deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling, you should still continue your studies. In other words, B1 is enough to get ahead as a foreigner or potentially get an extremely entry-level job, but not enough to be completely dependent on it. It’s simply considered having basic fluency, but it might not always be effortless or perfect. However, reaching B1 is a great achievement and you should be proud of yourself when you reach this level when studying the German language.
