Book private graffiti lessons in Portland

Graffiti rests on a few fundamentals that every beginner should learn first.

• Basic letterforms come first. Practice simple block letters with even height, width, and thickness before adding any flair.
• Handstyles: a handstyle is your tag, a fast stylized signature. Most writers build their whole style from it.
• Throw-ups are fast bubble letters in one or two colors. Pieces are larger works with several colors, shadows, and 3D effects.
• Paper practice comes before any wall. Short daily drills help you improve faster than rare long sessions.

A tutor can also show you legal spots and safe spray techniques once you are ready for walls.

The average cost of graffiti lessons in Portland is around $50/h.

Pricing can vary based on:

• Your current level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
• The tutor's experience and qualifications
• The number of hours you book
• The location where the sessions take place

Online lessons are often more affordable while remaining effective.

Getting into graffiti is easier when you follow a simple step-by-step path.

• Choose a tag name first. A short name with varied letters gives you plenty to practice.
• Draw plain letters on guide lines in a sketchbook. Keep each one the same height and thickness.
• Add effects one at a time. Start with an outline and add a shadow or a 3D block later.
• Practice in legal spaces once you reach cans and markers. Workshops and permission walls let you build skills without risk.

An instructor can pick the right tools for you and teach clean technique from day one.
