Find your private AP physics tutor in Saint Johns

Physics courses introduce students to the fundamental principles that govern matter, energy, and motion.

• Kinematics: Motion is the first topic in most physics programs: students learn to describe and calculate how objects move through space and time.
• Newton's Laws of Motion: Understanding how forces cause, change, or stop motion is a cornerstone of every introductory physics class.
• Energy and Work: Students learn about kinetic and potential energy, the conservation of energy, and how work is done by or against a force.
• Waves and Optics: Wave physics introduces students to how energy travels through different media, with applications in acoustics and optics.
• Electromagnetism: This unit covers the behavior of electric charges, current, voltage, and the relationship between electricity and magnetism.
• Modern Physics: Students are introduced to 20th-century discoveries: the photoelectric effect, wave-particle duality, and Einstein's theory of relativity.

These lessons build on one another — a strong grasp of the fundamentals makes advanced topics far more approachable.

In Saint Johns, expect to pay about $15/h for an hour of physics.

Pricing can vary based on:

• The level of study (middle school, high school, AP, or college)
• The teacher's expertise and academic background
• The number of hours booked per week
• The teaching mode (in-person or video call)

Online lessons are often more affordable while remaining just as effective.

Modern physics is divided into distinct areas of study, each with its own principles, tools, and applications.

• Classical Mechanics: This branch analyzes how and why objects move, using Newton's laws and concepts like momentum and equilibrium.
• Thermodynamics: Students learn about entropy, thermal equilibrium, and the efficiency of engines and refrigerators.
• Electromagnetism: Covers electric charges, magnetic fields, circuits, and the electromagnetic spectrum that includes visible light and radio waves.
• Optics: Geometric and wave optics both appear in this branch, with applications in cameras, telescopes, and fiber optics.
• Acoustics: Acoustics has real-world applications in music, architecture, medicine (ultrasound), and engineering.
• Quantum Mechanics: This branch introduces wave functions, probability, and phenomena like the photoelectric effect and electron orbitals.
• Relativity: Einstein's special and general theories describe how space, time, and gravity behave at very high speeds or near massive objects.

A knowledgeable physics tutor can help you navigate these branches and see how they connect to each other.
