A slur on trumpet is a curved line over or under two or more notes that tells you to play them smoothly without re-tonguing.

• Continuous airflow: a steady stream of air links every note in the slur.
• Valve changes only: the fingers do the work while the tongue stays still.
• Smooth sound: notes flow into each other with no gap.
• Contrast with tonguing: tonguing separates notes, slurring joins them.

Practicing slurs helps you build a smoother, more musical tone overall.

The average cost of trumpet lessons in Tulsa is around $40/h.

Several factors influence the price:

• The level of study (primary, secondary, university)
• The instructor's credentials and track record
• The package you choose (one-off or regular)
• The teaching mode (in-person or video call)

Comparing several profiles helps you find the best value.

Teaching yourself trumpet is possible, but it comes with real challenges.

• Embouchure: small mistakes here are easy to miss without a second pair of eyes.
• Breath support: proper airflow technique benefits from real-time correction.
• Bad habits: self-taught players sometimes repeat the same mistake for months.
• Motivation: regular sessions with a teacher keep practice on track.

A private trumpet tutor can spot these issues early and speed up your progress.
