About Tejan

Hi! I'm a Math and Science tutor with a Master's degree and over five years of hands-on tutoring experience with high school students. I know that finding the right tutor is a big decision — so let me tell you exactly what you can expect from me.

My academic background gave me a deep understanding of the subjects I teach. My five years in the classroom — working one-on-one with students at every level — gave me something just as valuable: the ability to spot exactly where a student is getting stuck and explain the same idea four different ways until one of them clicks.

The results I'm most proud of aren't test scores in isolation. They're the moments a student who came to me convinced they were "just bad at math" starts solving problems with confidence. Time and again, students I've worked with have moved from failing grades to passing — and from passing to genuinely excelling. That turnaround is what keeps me doing this work.

I take punctuality, preparation, and clear communication seriously. Every session is planned in advance, every student gets my full attention, and I keep parents informed of progress so there are no surprises. If something isn't working, I say so and we adjust — together.

I'm here because I genuinely enjoy this. There's nothing quite like watching a concept finally land for a student who'd given up on it. If that's what you're looking for, I'd love to work with you.

**My approach to teaching**

I teach Mathematics and Sciences to high school students, with one core belief: no concept is truly difficult — it just hasn't been shown the right way yet.

Every session I run is built around visuals and real examples before any formula or definition appears. When a student can *see* why something works — through a diagram, a graph, a real-world scenario — the formula stops being something to memorize and becomes something they could have figured out themselves. That shift is what I'm always working toward.

**How a typical class is structured**

I open each session with a quick 5-minute check-in — what clicked since last time, what didn't. This isn't busywork; it tells me exactly where to focus. From there, I introduce the new concept through a concrete example first, then we build toward the abstract. The middle of the session is hands-on: the student works through problems while I observe *how* they're thinking, not just whether they get the right answer. We close with a short recap and I assign one or two focused practice problems — never a pile of homework, just enough to lock in what we covered.

**What makes my sessions different**

I draw a lot. Whiteboards, tablets, sketches on paper — whatever it takes to make an idea visible. Most students who think they're "bad at math" are actually just being asked to hold too many abstract steps in their head at once. Breaking those steps into pictures changes everything. I also narrate my own reasoning out loud as I solve problems, so students aren't just watching an answer appear — they're watching a thought process they can copy.

**Who my classes are for**

I work with high school students at all levels — from those struggling to keep up with the class to those who want to get ahead or strengthen their foundation before exams. My sessions are especially well suited for students who've been told they're "not a math person" and students who understand the method but can't explain *why* it works. If you want to pass the next test, I can help. If you want to actually understand the subject, that's where I do my best work.
