About Laura

Bonjour ! I graduated in 2017 with a First class degree in French Studies and distinction in spoken French. As part of my degree I lived and worked professionally for 12 months in Paris, and since graduating have been employed in dual language roles. What I noticed both at school and at university was the reluctance of French language students to actually speak before friends, peers and tutors. I would love to give something back and help boost your confidence with the accent, pronunciation, and fluidity with the language. I was always keen on the grammar rules as well, and enjoyed being the 'go-to' person on my course for any confusion about the (complicated!) French language.

About the lesson

I am looking to assist GCSE, A-Level, and under-graduates with confidence in speaking the French language and understanding the underlying grammar rules and structures. My lessons will have a tri-part focus: confidence when speaking and pronouncing; practice conversational and topic-specific speaking; grammar. The specific focuses will depend on the individual student needs (based on academic level, exam requirements, and where they feel the least confident). I will also ensure to cover the basic grammar foundations to ensure the student is prepared for the next level they are about to go into (e.g. ready for the next academic year in September).

I have had experience tutoring GCSE-level students when I was in sixth form, and regularly held grammar overview sessions with my peers at university.

I aim to make these fun and enjoyable class, to banish those fears of rolling the French 'r' sound and the confusion of masculine/feminine/subject/pronoun/object agreements!

All my lessons will be £15 an hour. This is regardless of online/in person and whether there is travel involved. The aim here is not to charge you a high price, but to support with your confidence in French - this is pretty priceless if you are wanting to improve in your language skills!
