About Nyasha

I hold two language degrees from Oxford University; a 1st Class BA in Modern Languages (German), and an Mst in Comparative Literature (English, German and Portuguese) in which I gained a Merit. I am fully DBS checked. As well as these academic credentials, I have worked or volunteered in a range of teaching positions throughout my life, including running a reading club for Year 7 students during my A levels, working as a language assistant in a German high school during my year abroad, and volunteering as an interview helper and student ambassador during my degree, which involved interacting with and motivating prospective university applicants. I have experience tutoring both primary and secondary school students, as well as coaching applicants to the University of Oxford and assisting with mock interviews.

I am passionate about reading, writing and languages - I have lived in a number of different countries in southern Africa and Europe and I love to share my experience and love of learning with others. During my Masters, which I completed in 2021, I studied Comparative Literature and wrote my dissertation on modern African transgenerational novels by women writers; I have a particular interest in the representation of oral culture and migration in contemporary fiction. When teaching, I aim to convey the excitement of learning to my students, encouraging them to find their own particular 'niche' and to truly enjoy learning!

About the lesson

When teaching German, I combine a rigorous approach to learning grammar and vocabulary with a broad focus on literature, culture, film and current events. I aim to inspire my students to have a genuine curiosity about German culture and language, alongside building a firm grammatical foundation that will guarantee excellent exam results. I also make lessons fun - I love languages and want to inspire my students to love them too!

Please note that the hourly fee listed is an average and will vary from £40-£50 an hour depending on your level or school year.
