About Harry
I'm currently in my 2nd year studying a Masters in Computer Science at Newcastle University, and passed my first year with an average of 80%. I also have achieved a grade "A" at my Computer Science A Level.
I've previous experience of helping students of all skill levels by running a programming club in my high school and previously was a volunteer mentor at the CoderDojo of Campus North. I also took part in Microsoft's "Generation Code" scheme as a Code Champion, where I went around various schools and youth organisations to give them the opportunity to get into programming and support them where necessary and was invited to a hackathon in Microsoft's London Reactor building where I was awarded a certificate for being their Code Champion of the year.
I have experience with Java, HTML/CSS/Javascript (Front-end and backend) and Python - any other languages give me a shout about and I'll see how transferrable they are to the languages I know already.

My primary focus is around giving lessons to GCSE/A Level students although I do also take extra-curricular students. My role as a tutor is always to understand the students' thought processes and provide direction into how they can approach their problem and figuring out how they learn best.
I highly encourage students to bring along any questions they have at the start of the session or any past papers they've worked on, so we can go through them together and work out where we've gone wrong and if there's ways we can avoid making those mistakes in the future. I'll also stay up to date with what they're being taught at school so we can stay up to date with new content whilst also revisiting older content periodically.
I'll also file a copy of the relevant exam board's specification so we can ensure we've covered anything the student isn't confident with so when it comes to the exam, nothing should come at a surprise and the student should feel prepared to take on the exam!
