About Alexander
I am a 2nd-year Physics student at the University of Nottingham, tutoring GCSE and A-level Maths and Physics. I enjoy teaching because I know how much difference a clear explanation and the right support can make when a subject feels difficult, and I have personally been saved by tutors many times.
As a physics student, I use maths and problem-solving regularly. I believe students learn best when they understand the concepts behind the equations, rather than simply memorising formulae or applying methods without context. My goal is to make lessons clear, supportive and focused on each student’s needs, whether they want to improve confidence, prepare for exams or aim for higher grades.
I have experience in teaching and tutoring, as well as instruction and leadership qualifications. I am professional, patient and reliable, and I always aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions.
I am also bilingual in Russian and can teach in Russian if needed.

My tutoring approach is focused on building real understanding rather than memorising formulae. I explain topics clearly by breaking difficult ideas into smaller steps, and use lots of examples, diagrams and exam-style questions to build confidence.
A typical lesson starts by identifying what the student is struggling with or going through previous assignments, then working through the theory, followed by guided practice and independent questions. I adapt my teaching style to each student, whether they need help catching up on content or improving exam technique
Lessons are usually 1 hour, although I can offer longer sessions for exam preparation.
