I first met Ashley when she was recommended as a tutor by my professor for my Physical Chemistry class in the Spring of 2016. I was truly struggling in that class- the concepts were just not clicking, and I met with my professor multiple times a week, in which he expressed true concern for me being able to pass the class. I began meeting with Ashley at least two times a week, sometimes more during an exam week. Ashley was always flexible on times and would even offer to meet and answer last minute questions on the morning of exams.
Before our tutoring sessions, I would send Ashley homework problems I was struggling with, and she would prepare wonderful explanations for me that we would go over in our tutoring sessions. If I had a concept I wasn't understanding, she would draw it out on a white board and walk me through it. Ashley gave me the encouragement I needed to begin to wrap my head around such a difficult subject. Although Physical Chemistry will never be my friend, Ashley taught me how to tackle challenges with perseverance and confidence, which is something I have carried with me well beyond that class. Ashley is a fantastic tutor that I would recommend to anyone struggling with a subject looking for someone who will be there for you throughout the class to help you succeed.Ashley is one of the most dedicated, knowledgeable people I know. I met her as a TA for an upper level chemistry class, but ended up working under her instruction for a few months. Any time I had a question, she did everything she could to not only tell me the answer, but to explain where my misunderstandings lie. Her method of teaching a concept is not limited to pouring over equations or proofs; she strives to explain the material in a way that is not only accessible, but highlights the application of what you are learning in the "real world." She is an extraordinary tutor, will focus on the topics you need the most, and will make you feel comfortable in your tutoring environment. I would highly recommend Ashley to anyone who is seeking improvement in chemistry, math or physics in a patient and customizable environment.
