About Alexey
I am a 3rd-year Computer Science student at King’s College London, currently on track for a First Class Honours degree. My journey with Mathematics started with a fascination for how logic governs the world—a passion that led me into the field of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.
Having previously tutored GCSE students to success, I have experience in identifying common pitfalls and simplifying the curriculum for high-achieving students. I specialise in helping students build the confidence needed to transition from GCSE to the much more rigorous A-level environment.
I remember exactly what it’s like to sit in a classroom feeling like a concept just hasn't 'clicked' yet. That frustration is what drives me to teach. I want to help students realise that maths isn't about memorising formulae, but about developing a toolkit for problem-solving that stays with you long after the exam is over.
Beyond my degree, I am a clear communicator who prides myself on being organised and approachable. I aim to be the mentor I wish I had during my A-levels: someone who can simplify the complex and make the high-pressure exam season feel manageable.

My tutoring approach is built on First Principles Thinking. Rather than asking students to memorise formulae, I teach them to understand the underlying logic. Once a student understands 'why' a mathematical rule exists, they can solve even the most complex 'unseen' questions that Edexcel is known for. Having achieved an A* in A-level Maths and an A in Further Maths (with A* marks in FM1 and FS1), I provide a high-level perspective on the Edexcel curriculum.
My Expertise:
I specialise in helping students bridge the gap between IGCSE and A-level. I have a particular mastery of the Applied modules (Mechanics and Statistics), which many students find the most challenging.
My Approach:
- First Principles: We don't just learn 'how'; we learn 'why.' This is crucial for the new, more wordy A-level questions.
- Active Recall: We use spaced repetition and targeted practice to ensure you don't forget early topics by the time mocks arrive.
Structure:
Sessions are 60 minutes, focusing on hurdle-clearing and past-paper mastery. I provide tailored homework and am available for messaging support between lessons to ensure no student feels 'stuck' for long.
