About Liam
My name is Liam, and I am currently a 3rd year Lancaster University student, where I study Film, Media and Cultural Studies. Having studied Media Studies at both GCSE and A-Level, where I achieved a 9 and an A respectively, I developed a real passion for the subject which led me to choosing to study it at university. My degree has allowed me to develop my understanding of film, television, media and culture in greater depth, while also strengthening my analytical and essay-writing skills.
Once I have finished my degree, I intend on gaining Qualified Teacher Status and teaching Media Studies as a career. I am therefore particularly interested in helping other students develop their knowledge and confidence in a subject that I am passionate about. My interest in Media Studies as a subject has also been informed by my personal life, as I am a big film and television fan.

My approach to tutoring centres around finding the methods that work best for each individual student and helping them work towards their own goals. I aim to make lessons simple, engaging and supportive, while also helping students build their confidence. I believe that many students already have a strong understanding of the subject; sometimes they simply need the right guidance and encouragement to recognise what they know and apply it effectively.
The services I can provide include:
- Teaching and explaining new content
- Revising and consolidating existing knowledge
- Exploring different revision techniques
- Understanding the curriculum and what is expected of them
- Learning how to translate understanding into exam technique
Typical sessions are 1 hour long.
Available for any Media Studies student (GCSE or A-Level).
Note: You must make clear which exam board you are studying to ensure that the tutoring meets what you need it to.
