About Carla

I find a great sense of accomplishment when I can help other people feel confident in their abilities. Obviously, in order to feel confident one also has to put in the work. I believe that this part does not always have to be an extensive struggle. Sometimes you need someone else's guidance to unlock that which is already inside, to unlock your full potential. This is where I believe I can assist.
In university I have learned methods through trial and error again, and again. Where some approaches will work and where others will not. It is essential to tailor learning to the individual's strengths and needs. I believe my experience and knowledge will assist students in harmonizing their abilities to reach their goals.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is student-centered. Whether students need me to quiz them or help them with essays, I am there to offer my guidance and knowledge. I believe that students learn best when they actively engage with the material rather than simply memorizing content, although both are essential sometimes. I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs, learning style, and academic goals, ensuring that concepts are explained clearly and at an appropriate pace.

As a third-year BA Law student at Stellenbosch University, I bring strong analytical, reading, and writing skills to my lessons. I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities.

I am proficient in English and Afrikaans and can teach in either language where needed.

A typical lesson will involve identifying areas of difficulty, working through concepts together, practicing relevant skills, and reviewing progress. This may include comprehension, literature analysis, essay writing, grammar, language use, and exam preparation.
