About Fahd
I’m Fahd Rehman, a third-year Materials Science & Engineering student at the University of Birmingham.
During my GCSEs, I initially struggled with motivation and finding revision techniques that worked effectively for me. I worked with several tutors and tried different approaches over a number of months before eventually finding the teaching methods and study techniques that suited me best. With the right support and approach, I went on to achieve 9s and 8s in my core GCSE subjects and continued my academic journey into a Materials Science & Engineering degree.
This experience has shaped the way I approach tutoring. I understand that struggling with a subject doesn’t mean a student lacks ability; more often, they simply haven’t found the approach that works for them yet. I aim to identify those difficulties and adapt my teaching to help students develop the understanding and confidence they need to become independent learners.

I offer 1–2 hour online tutoring sessions for GCSE and A-Level students in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. After completing an initial diagnostic exam paper, I tailor each lesson to my students’ needs and provide digital resources to aid learning. Each lesson has a strong focus on developing subject knowledge and building confidence when faced with exam questions. I can tutor students following AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications.
I use past papers to identify areas where students may be struggling, allowing us to focus on the specific topics and concepts that need improvement. We then work through these topics together, breaking down difficult concepts and practising relevant exam-style questions. I encourage students to attempt questions independently, providing guidance and feedback where needed.
Having experience of both tutoring and being tutored myself, I understand the importance of adapting teaching methods to suit each student’s learning style and difficulties. My aim is to help students develop a thorough understanding of their subjects, improve their exam technique and become confident, independent learners. I may also set homework depending on the student’s performance and areas for improvement.
