About Anderson
When I was 14 years old I remember going on a hike with my father and having him tell me all about an article he had read on particle rocket physics. He is a math professor at UBC so was fascinated by anything math related, and throughout my childhood, whether on purpose or accidently he did a damned good job of inspiring the same fascination within me. That hike was hours long but I remember getting home and thinking about how fast the time had gone by. I am now in my third year studying physics and business at UBC. When I was about to graduate highschool, I didn't even need to think about my major. Now, 3 years into my degree, I still have no regrets. Starting with first year mechanics and now going into my second quantum physics class each course only gets more interesting. Of course none of my current success in university would have happened without my father's inspiration and math lessons. It's precisely because of this that I have also developed a passion for teach and inspiring others.

I go into each tutoring partnership with an open mind for the specific needs of my student. Ilike to start with an open word quiz where the student walks me through their process of answering each question on a quiz I design to get better aquainted with their thought process to better understand what learning processes might quit them. Typically I define three areas of math/physics understanding: 1. Conceptual understanding, 2. Problem application 3. Problem solving speed. I have found that each student has their own sets of strengths and weaknesses within these 3 categories and I aim to design a nuanced approach for each student.
