About Lauren

When A student feels successful in reading, writing, and spelling, he/she is happy! The student has less frustrated and this makes school not so "hard" and overwhelming for students. I have been an early childhood teacher for over 15 years. I currently teach special education preschool. I also tutor old students in reading, writing, and spelling. I have written and delivered over reading 100 lessons to students ranging from second grade to eighth grade. I am a level one dyslexia practitioner. This means that I went through a year long training on becoming a great reading tutor! My experience with the Orton-Gillingham methods to teaching a multisensory sequential systematic approach works with all learners at all levels. I am available to tutor both in person or online. After school and/or over the summer!

I enjoy working with young students to accomplish all of there reading goals. I enjoy seeing the progress they make that makes school a happy and easier place for my students.

When I was a child I always dreamed I would be a teacher. I would always set up a classroom in my bedroom and pretend to teach my stuffed animals. when I began college in 2002 I had no idea what I wanted to do. I tried computer science, music, and photography before I was on my journey and to be coming in early childhood education teacher. Throughout my college career I now need for my two nieces who are now graduating high school from the time they were born. It was through taking care of two young girls that I knew I had a passion for teaching and teaching young children.

I have a Bachelors degree in early childhood education and a Masters degree in special education. I am a Certified teacher in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts in early childhood education and special education.

About the lesson

My process in working with a new student is to meet with parents and students to discuss if we would be a good match! Next I talk to the family to see what there goals are for our tutoring sessions. Then I would do some baseline testing on the student. This would give me a chance to get to know the child and see where to start with the student.

I have worked with students from preschool to eighth grade of all different levels.

Details

My pricing is $50 for the intitial testing. Each session would be between $25-$40 per hour depending on location.
