About Jacob

I specialize in tutoring students that exhibit what is commonly called "math anxiety". A great deal of my tutoring experience is teaching math to students who struggle with math. I apply a philosphy built on intuitition and repeated practice that ensures the students do not just memorize an equation but understand the idea behind the equation.

About me:

I am a recent graduate of Boston University, where I earned my Master's in economics and my bachelor's in economics, math, and philosophy.

My favorite thing about tutoring disabusing students of the notion that they are "not a math person". Most students who struggle with math have had bad experiences with their past math teachers, as a result they approach math thinking that it is something they will never be good at. I love showing students that that is not true. There is an intuitive beauty and logic to math that anyone can understand if they have the right teacher.

I have master's and bachelor's degree in a math heavy field. Additionally, I have rougly 3 years of experience tutoring students who struggle with math.

About the lesson

I have a one on one conversation with the student and the parent to understand exactly what the student is struggling with and what they hope to achieve. From there, I attempt to address any misunderstandings with the topic at hand. After that, we move on to practicing and solidifying the student's understanding.
